CBT Whistler
North American's #1 ski resort
Earn 36.0 Mainpro+ credits from the super-terrific winners of the National CME Program Award of the College of Family Physicians of Canada—and ski and/or board to your heart's content at the top-rated ski resort in North America.
Whistler—winter and/or summer—is a terrific treatment for today's screen-time addictions. The six-minute documentary called The Tech Trap is ironically well-worth viewing.
The 20th CBT Whistler will be held at the fantastico ski-in ski-out Fairmont Chateau Whistler from Monday, March 15 to Wednesday, March 17, 2021. We always go in mid-March because it's the absolute prime of the entire year's ski season, corresponding to the historical records for Whistler's best base depths (e.g., 260cm on March 15, 2019 and 255cm on March 15, 2020).
Workshop hours are 7:00AM–9:00AM and 4:00PM–6:00PM, leaving you seven (7) daylight hours per workshop day to tire yourself out exploring Whistler & Blackcomb's vast terrain (although a ~9:30AM start to the ski day doesn't allow for the freshest tracks, it's pleasant in that the morning lift lines have largely dissipated by then).
The CME is the acclaimed three-credits-per-hour CBT for Anxiety module (you'll earn 36.0 Mainpro+ credits from just 12.0 workshop hours). Join us in wonderful Whistler and you’ll learn a marvellous set of ultra-brief techniques to help patients overcome shyness, worry, panic & other common anxiety disorders.
The head instructor is Greg Dubord, MD, amply broken-in after giving over 500 CBT workshops, and a University of Toronto CME Teacher of the Year. Assistant faculty includes UBC's Naved Ali, MD, CCFP, CSAM, DABAM, FASAM, who will be speaking on CBT tools for addictions.
Can't make the CBT for Anxiety module in Whistler in March? No worries! CBT for Anxiety is held in Whistler every third ski season. And if you can't hang in there until March 2024, just choose another groovy location!
This CME respects your time. This workshop is certified at the highest level (three-credits-per-hour) by the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Our 3:1 CME saves you an incredible amount of time (and therefore money) over 1:1 CME. Just have a look at the five-year benefit calculations.
Vacation CME has many advantages over local CME. See what your colleagues are saying, and explore the case for it being four-credit-per-hour CME.
Many physician leaders have been trained by CBT Canada over the past twenty years. Alumni include CFPC presidents (both national & provincial), department chairs, residency training program directors—and even a few doctors who are comfortable using drills & saws. No shirt, no shoes, no CME. However, what you do during non-CME hours is entirely up to you. The CMPA now refers to physician well-being as "the missing quality of care indicator" because it powerfully predicts patient outcomes. Physician, recharge yourself!

Whistler was named the No. 1 Overall Best Ski Resort in North America by the 29th annual SKI Magazine Reader's Poll. It was the 3rd year in a row, and the 4th time in 5 years that Whistler has topped the survey results. The SKI Magazine Reader’s Poll is the longest running and most comprehensive survey of its kind. In celebration, Whistler has created an epic video to get you pumped for the upcoming winter.
National Geographic refers to Whistler Blackcomb as "North America's mega-mountain... a gargantuan ski resort for skiers and snowboarders who want the biggest of everything... It gets the most snow, has some of the longest vertical drops, the largest terrain parks, the steepest steeps, the most runs, and the greatest acreage of any ski area on the continent... the Village is a buzzing hive... with people swimming in endorphins"
NEW! Whistler had $66 million worth of lift upgrades in 2019. The project included a 10-passenger gondola to replace the Wizard & Solar chairlifts, a 47% capacity improvement. In addition, the Family Ski Zone’s Emerald Express 4-passenger lift was replaced with a new 6-passenger high-speed lift, and Catskinner triple-passenger lift was replaced with a 4-passenger, high-speed lift.
If you're new to Whistler, this New York Times video overview ("36 Hours in Whistler, British Columbia") is tough to beat.

Whistler's PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola has two entries in the Guinness Book of World Records: it's the world’s highest cable car, and it has the world's longest span between two towers. The gondola travels 3km between Whistler & Blackcomb Mountains at nearly 1/2km high.
Exciting news in March 2016 was the opening of the $100M Audain Art Museum, nestled in the forest at Blackcomb's base. The Audain is BC's 2nd largest gallery, with haunting Northwest Coast masks, and wonderful paintings by BC-favorites EJ Hughes & Emily Carr, including her record-breaking Crazy Stair. The Audain is one of "five Canadian architecture attractions you have to see", according to June 2019 Forbes Magazine.
GET THEE STOKED! When viewed in HD, Whistler's Wonder Reels rival anything Warren Miller produced in his prime. Check out Snow, The Pass, The Stoke, The Deep, The Crossing, Size Matters, and Airspace. All magical.
Equipment rental shops abound at Whistler, but you can't go wrong with the big Affinity Sports chain. They have seven shops in Whistler.
